Sacs de Chiffon 

Welcome to Sacs de Chiffon! 

That's Bags From Rags in french!  You say Rags?!  Yes, all beautiful bags made from rescued re-purposed fabric mainly upholstery fabric, although I have acquired lots of fabric from dear friends and family. 

Most recently I was asked to make a bag from an old chiffon party dress.  Specifically covered in rosettes! 

Think about it!  Your closet may have a few old dresses hanging that you just don't have the heart to toss them away.  BUT...that dress turned into a bag not only would be a hit, but would be something that will last for years keeping the remembrance of that once upon a time beautiful dress turned beautiful bag!

Where Did It All Start?

 I've been sewing since I could hold a fork!  Sewing developed so many character traits in me I just have never decided to not do it.  Here are just a few of the wonderful things I learned:

• ability to stay on task and complete it
• attention to detail
•  take on a challenge of a new technique
• self confidence
• endurance
• most of all the joy of looking back at what I finally accomplished in a finished project!

So then I decided to make myself a bag, because I couldn't find what I wanted in the stores.  After finishing my bag and wearing it everywhere people asked me where I got the bag.  I said, "I made it!"  They wanted one too!  Thus Bags from Rags was coined. 

After much time spent developing patterns and matching fabrics my bags became a bit more elegant if  you will.  I thought they deserved a better name than Bags from Rags.  With the WWW being at my fingertips I searched how to say it in that beautiful romantic language of French.  That's how Bags from Rags became Sacs de Chiffon par Cindy!  Now don't ask me to speak more than that in French!  That's about all I can speak.  Although I would love to visit the beautiful countryside of France someday.
